Board meeting at Filipsborg
On 12 October 2018 the Swedish Sauna Academy held its first board meeting after the exceptionally successful XVII International Sauna Congress of 7–10 June 2018. The venue was Filipsborg manor in Kalix.
The owner Örjan Pekka gave a very fine account of Filipsborg's history from the 19th century to today. Among other things we learned that the Taube family has its roots in Kalix. Filipsborg is carefully restored and every room has period-appropriate furnishings – very fine and interesting. After the board meeting we enjoyed a very good dinner. Then it was time for a sauna in the indoor sauna, which is spacious with a large sauna stove and a large, cosy relaxation area. There is also a wood-fired sauna outdoors that has all the advantages a wood sauna should have. Next to the wood-fired sauna there is a lovely hot tub. Wonderful bathing and company; time flew by and it was past midnight when we went to our hotel rooms. The hotel rooms have well-composed furnishings with very comfortable beds that gave a good night's sleep. THANK YOU Örjan and staff for very pleasant and fine hospitality. Göran Honkamaa, chairman, Swedish Sauna Academy.
